Treat Sports Injuries with Essential Oils

DIY Essential Oil Preparation

You can blend the mixture of pure essential oils to prepare your own mixture of sports oil which suits you the most. 10-30 drops of essential oil(s) are blended with one ounce of carrier oil to get the right effects.

An essential oil in the blend will result in the stimulating essential oil formation. Lower concentrations are preferred as those are more relaxing. Use light strokes in the pre-workout sessions and deeper massaging for the post-workout processes. To open up your body, it is advisable to use Eucalyptus (4 drops), Lavender/ Peppermint (4 drops), Rosemary (5-6 drops) in an ounce of carrier oil to do pre-workout massage.

Post exercise oil blends can be made by adding Lavender (7-8 drops), Eucalyptus (6-8 drops), Juniper Berry (3-4 drops), Sweet Marjoram (3-4 drops), Ginger Essential Oil (7-8 drops) and Peppermint (5-6 drops). Use deep massaging strokes towards heart for detoxification of the metabolic waste products from the body.

Showers and Baths

Essential oils can be used for pre and post exercising modules in the forms of showers and baths. You can use the above oils in the similar proportion and choose the ones giving you the most relaxing results. For shower process, the massaging of oils to the body followed by a warm shower would be helpful. The metabolic wastes from the body will be exerted and the muscles will gain strength. It is also preferable to use the essential oil blend by applying the oil after steam or shower as the skin pores get opened for easy absorption. It depends on your activity and body status to choose the stimulating or relaxing blend for massage.

Therapeutic Oils for sportspersons

Essential oils have therapeutic values and it goes far beyond the warm up and cool down sessions. The healing properties of oils are required for curing sprains, twists, bruises, scrapes and other troubles caused while playing. Many oils have strong detoxification and anti-inflammatory action. It even regenerates the tissues and relieves the body from unwanted stresses (physical and psychological).

Bruises and strains can be treated even by the synergistic molecules consisting of Helichrysum oil. It is the everlasting oil used for treating sprains, twisted joints, and hemorrhages. It is a wonder cure and applied in the ratio of 1:10 with a carrier oil for the therapeutic effects. Physiotherapists use a small amount of jojoba for curing the chronic injuries on the affected areas.

Fitness experts and active athletes often get hurt with abrasions and minor cuts. Essential oils can get the excellent results for such wounds for its soothing and antiseptic effects. Lavender (for soothing) and tea tree (antiseptic) in equal ratio can be used as all-around skin healer. The pure oils can be directly applied to scrapes and cuts after cleansing the wound. You can change the ratio as per your body’s requirements.

The sports persons are susceptible to illness and other physical issues. The blend of eucalyptus, tea tree, thyme, lemon, niaouli and peppermint oils can activate your immune system. The oil can be applied all over the body for the best effects. The body becomes strong from inside and keeps the diseases away.
